the tragic demise of polaroids.
i couldn't be bother to purchase any more films to feed the polaroids because its simply getting too expensive. 4 packs of 20films = a decent lens. Thats how exorbitant the price is now. |

i've got this 3D structure which is part of the assesment next week sitting nicely in my living room which will be shipped to school and we're gonna dismantle it after taking lots of photographs/video of it next friday. After friday, im gonna hibernate for a couple of days then resume work and make lots of money so i can save it partially, buy an oven and sell off my camera to upgrade.

i have to redo my specialism work all over again and i do think that the two and half weeks i have spent researching, pasting, brainstorming are now redundant. Right now, as i attempt to do it all over again, i kinda think that i hate this style, i hate these childish underlines of words, i hate perfectionism all of it in my sketchbook. Its not me. Yet i have to conform to the lectures taste of neatness and well presented ideas, sketches and sorts. The idea of brainstorm is for you to get messy on that paper, scribble as many things that comes to your mind as you write but being neat and perfect, i cant let my head explore because im afraid i'll ruin that bacteria-free white space in my sketchbook. I thought art schools are meant for us to find our own individuality.
But from what i see, they don't teach you as much as you expect them to. They just walk around the tables while you do your work and comment " you should manage your time." over and over again and yet do nothing to correct the mistake we've made, or lead us or gave us ideas. The lecturers in my school (some of them) are probably just out to eat the salary. Im beginning to feel very uncomfortable in this school. |

Fitna by Geert Wilders
The above clip was part two actually. For the past couple of days, there have been much hoo-haa and controversy over Fitna, a short 15minutes clip by Geert Wilders and i had to watch it in order to judge the western interpretation of Islam. I am a Muslim and i was appalled by the Wilder's audacity to direct something like that. He's got all the concept of the teachings of Quran wrong. I mean, oh cmon, just because of a bad eggs like the radicals, extremists exisiting on the globe and creating tremendous amount of panic and chaos by bombings etc, it doesnt make Islam a religion like how the media perceive it to be. We are not killers. We advocate peace. If a few bad eggs carried out attacks and made the Quran as a reference, as a teaching tool, then i guess they have reflected Islam to be a 'retarded' and 'violent' religion. * as quoted by Straits Time on 28 March 2008.
Perhaps, its all politics. But Wilder's short film is inflammatory and present a severely distorted view of the religion. |
